Wholeness is the ultimate idea we can have of the meaning of being. To be is to be a whole unfolding its inherent potentialities through cycles of changes (time) and in a state of unceasing relatedness to other wholes (space). Wholeness is the being-ness of all wholes. Nothing more can be said of it, except that it is and that it is all-inclusive.
- from Rhythm of Wholeness

Dane Rudhyar (1895-1985) was the premier Philosopher of Wholeness, contributing a stream of evermore inclusive works on the subject from the late-1920s until his passing in 1985. Rudhyar's works on Wholeness encompasses far more than material and biological evolution, and he gave to modern philosophy an unequaled metaphysical perspective. Beginning with his early attempts, exemplified by The Philosophy of Operative Wholeness, and culminating in his monumental Rhythm of Wholeness and The Fullness of Human Experience, Rudhyar consistently formulated new images of humanity and our place and purpose within the cosmos.
Perhaps more than any other 20th century philosopher, Rudhyar enriched the words, images and concepts of modern metaphysics and philosophy. Rudhyar provided a "total affirmation of being," allowing us at last to transcend a crippled nomenclature which for centuries had handicapped the philosophical traditions of both East and West with terms like "non-being" and "non-manifestation".

Beyond Individualism - The Psychology of Transformation by Dane Rudhyar, with a Foreword by James Fadiman, Ph.D.
"The first time I read this book, it was difficult for me to stay with the argument, to maintain my attention. I saw that my educational up-bringing has lessened my capacity to pay attention. The second time I read the book I could see how it has begun to work on me, I was willing to walk along with Rudhyar and notice things as he pointed them out. My defensiveness had diminished, my pomposity about being a 'real' psychologist had deflated. I realized I was in the presence of a great mind who was willing to clarify the place in which I found myself.
I suggest you read this book for pleasure, not for enlightenment (for you are already enlightened), not for scholarship, not for the sake of 'keeping up,' but to give yourself a larger set of windows to view your life from. It is a pleasure to know that books like this are still offered to us. It is a personal pleasure to commend it to you."
-from the Foreword by James Fadiman, Ph.D.
